Think Intervene

The resident artists were invited to think, intervene, create or modify the materials unused by the industry - the so called rubble. Between 2017 and 2019, the exploration of the rubble was structured in two programming cycles through which the artists defined strategies, methods and technics to relate to the material and production possibilities.

Create Modify

The making of this residencies aims to strengthen the participation of the working community in the elaboration of project of artistic nature, promoting the sharing of empirical and artistic knowledge and other experiences. With a willingness to develop this project further, and committed to an experimental atitude, it is predicted the cycle takes on new shapes in the future.

MATERIAIS, OFICINAS E EQUIPAMENTO

The knowledge of technicians, as well as the rubble itself, is described as a remaining material that can be oriented towards other vocations. An elastic, adaptable knowledge that artists can integrate into the context of their productions.

Through a multidisciplinary team composed of architects, designers, engineers, artists, photographers, craftsmen, and specialized technicians, the various stages of production include technical and material analysis of the works, from manufacturing, packaging and transportation to the audiovisual recording of each project.

The existing equipment and processes are available to 
the resident who can operate them directly or with the help of 
the technical team:

Welding equipment – Saws – Drills – Angle Grinders – Disc cutting machine – plasma cutting – chamfering machine – suction cups – easels – packaging material – carpentry material – equipment associated with handling – metals (cnc, bending machine, calender, drilling machine, tigue welding, among others) – other equipment (vacuum machine, forklifts, crane, emery, suction machine, packaging machine, pallet trucks, among others) – motorization and electronics department – recording equipment of sound and image.

Technical support will be provided during the residency for the definition of production and manufacture solutions, apprenticeship of execution techniques and process coordination:

Blacksmiths – electricians – technical personnel specialized in glass and window frames – programmers – curators – architects – designers – engineers – technical support from partner entities.

Desde 2018 que aconteceram 22 residências, com um total de 28 artistas e 9 parceiros técnicos, artísticos, de prgramação e comunicação. Estas parcerias, manifestam um importante complemento de gestão das residências, dando continuidade a activação de diferentes dinâmicas inter-sectoriais no contexto da criação artística, aspecto central ao trabalho desenvolvido No Entulho pela ArtWorks.
